toastykittenWe had some beets leftover from the farmer's market and thought that we would roast them. Yesterday, in the mail, I received the latest issue of Fine Cooking magazine and there was an entire section devoted to roasting vegetables. ^_^ Such a pleasant coincidence. I made the beets according to the directions in the magazine, and they came out beautifully; they had a very nice, sweet flavor. I actually prefer this method to eating beets raw.
Also, today my latest feature got published: Drinking to the Web, which is all about alcohol and social apps. It does make me wonder, though, why don't people make just one general social network for alcohol? I know people who like beer and wine, or Scotch and mixing drinks.
Reminder to self: Pay bills. Take pictures off camera.
For some reason today I was reminded of a little white boy we used to babysit. He was really cute and very, very polite. He also loved my mom's white rice. He would just eat bowls of the plain rice; it's not like my mom's rice is anything special - it's just standard rice cooker rice. But his mom couldn't figure out how to cook rice like us.
Also, he was ambidextrous, which I always thought was very cool. He favored his left hand, although his parents tried to train him out of it, reasoning that his life would be easier if he just used his right hand.
