• Many kids who qualify for free lunch don't get it because they don't want to stick out. I didn't remember it being a big deal in elementary school, but my sister and I often skipped lunch in middle and high school, due to the fact that overcrowding meant that by the time you got to the front of the line, lunch was over. I forget if we still qualified for a reduced lunch by that time. Probably not.
