I get so annoyed whenever affirmative action turns up, because some jackass inevitably says something incredibly stupid, like "I don't want to be hired over someone who has less qualifications than I do" and is so pig-headed that every argument you present to him is "That's discrimination against the white man." First of all, what makes you think you have the qualifications in the first place? Second of all, affirmative action is NOT ABOUT SHAFTING YOU HOW MUCH CLEARER CAN WE GET? Third of all, NONE OF THIS IS ABOUT YOU.

Look, I don't even like the way affirmative action's been executed in the first place. But I would like the conversation to move on from "Reverse discrimination!" because it distracts from the real issue at hand - which is the fact that the majority of people who face REAL discrimination are minorities.
