If it weren't for the alt-weeklies and the Internet, I would never know what's going on in the world. I don't watch TV news, other than the clips on the Daily Show and the Colbert Report (and I haven't even really watched those in a while) because the last time I did, I didn't want to believe how completely inane and dumb it was. Anyway, the SF Bay Guardian informs me that the bad Christian music I was subjected to were none other than the scary Christian fundie teen youth Battle Cry, led by one Ron Luce. The SF Board of Supervisors passed a resolution condemning them for their intolerance. (While we're on the subject, is there a way to get the SF Board to actually govern and not waste its time passing non-binding, non-influential resolutions condemning things they deem politically incorrect? I mean, I am on their side on this particular topic and everything, but come the fuck on. Fix MUNI! Fix health care!) Walking to the train station after work was a trip.

Speaking of health care, SFBG also informed me of the San Francisco Health Access Plan, which would make it easier to get employer funded health care. It's on hold while they work on an amendment covering workers who are not San Francisco residents. Hey, that would be me! (Not that it matters; my company's health care is pretty decent, even with this year's rise in costs.)

Other things of interest:

  • Sarah Silverman is sooo not funny. She just says stuff like "I pooed" and expect you to laugh because she's cute. Which, she's not even remotely.
  • I've been reading Sherlock Holmes. I always forget how racist it is. It is more entertaining than Snow Crash, though. I don't know why, because I remember being entertained by Cryptonomicon when Stephenson wasn't doing math for 20 pages, but it's kind of boring.
