In addition to waking up to news about China's earthquake (nothing near our village, though), I also saw this: This past week, ICE sent agents to elementary schools in Oakland, shocking and scaring students, parents, teachers, and city officials. Parents reported that the agents intimidated students by patrolling outside the school after being denied entry at Stonehurst Elementary. ICE followed up with arrests of parents at their homes in Oakland and Berkeley.

Yeah. It's fucking unbelievable, though not. My students and my Bilingual Instructional Assistant were all talking about it last week. Disgusting. That, and going to workplaces and then extorting HOME ADDRESSES and going there. And crashing a strike/picket line, last year. Fucking outrageous.

One of my friends was working in ICE and she's now transferred to the refugee processing group - much happier now :)
